Out of the Box

When I was pregnant with Nate, Matt asked me to consider homeschooling our kids. I was shocked & overwhelmed by his request. I was a firm HELL NO. I was not open to put my children’s education into my own hands. I grew up understanding the stereotypes were true & if i adopted this lifestyle, my family would automatically be placed in those boxes. He asked me to pray about it. My heart felt a pull & softened, so I prayed. My answer was in a dream so I chose to give it a go. In the beginning I tried hard to not be a part of the stereotypes. It was exhausting. I realized my personality colors outside of the lines anyway! I stopped proving myself worthy to home school. I stopped performing. I saw the boxes I grew up understanding were only there because I had put us in them. So we stepped outside of the box! Rest returned. At that point my vision & desire for homeschooling became clear & together as a family we began to write our homeschooling journey, now with freedom, rest & room to grow.
