Facing Fears

WHAT TO DO WHEN WE OVER-SHARE DUE TO UNCERTAINTY

Anyone else "over-share" when feeling vulnerable or uncertain?!

I am learning faith's opposition is not doubt, its uncertainty. When I am uncertain, I blab... About anything. It's my form of flailing. Then I leave the situation beating myself up & assess/assume the interpretation of that poor person who just experienced my hot mess. It's scary, vulnerable and not a real representation of who I am.

To help stop this cycle in my life I started looking at my fears & uncertainties that lie behind that exposed behaviour...

  1. I stop (slow down my agenda, so I can deal). I look at my perceived mess for what it is.

  2. Assess why.

  3. Acknowledge that uncomfortable moment and give myself grace (sometimes a million x's that day).

  4. And choose (not feel) to move on. This has lessened the amount of times I flailed. Brene` Brown suggests to have a plan that restores a calm to your soul when our anxiety of fear & uncertainty arise. So, let’s add her suggestion to our tool belt! We all do it. Not everyone sees it.

  5. Practicing these steps, we will stop our reactions caused by our fears and instead we will respond & behave how we were designed... Confidently unique!
