WHAT TO PACK FOR A WEEKEND GETAWAY
CHOOSE 3 PAIRS OF SHOES SUITABLE FOR YOUR DESTINATION & PAIRS THAT CAN BE WORN WITH ALL OF YOUR LOOKS!
HOW TO CHOOSE WHICH PAIR OF SHOES:
1. Are they easy to walk in? If so, bring them! You need at least one pair you can switch into if you are uncomfortable.
2. You can start with your shoes, but you do not have to! I personally do NOT start with my shoe choice— I choose my looks (which will discuss more in the article) first then choose my shoes that will go with what outfits I’ve chosen.
3. Pending on your destination:
Hot Weather: Sandals (strappy & sexy), Flip-flops + Sneakers (for your adventure)
Cold Weather: Warm boots. Slippers (if you will be lounging in a Lodge. If not just bring thick, cute socks to save shoe space), A Block Heel so you can walk on the Icy sidewalks with ease.
3. Pack items like socks, rolled thinner clothing items, and underwear into your shoes to save luggage space!
TRAVEL LOOK #1
Travel Looks vary! Some love to travel in their oversized sweaters + leggings. If that is your jam — GO FOR IT!
I prefer to choose items that are comfortable and provide options so I can choose an item if I need to switch up the looks I’ve prepared. I do this because I LOVE options and often dress how I feel.
TRAVEL LOOK #2
Jumpsuits are great to pack because they are an effortless complete look in one.
Due to the bulkiness of some jumpsuits (like this one), I chose to wear them on a travel day to save space in my suitcase and also….. no one sees you on your travel day so you can repeat the look on your weekend away!
PACKING TIP: Did you know you can add more clothing items inside your pillowcase if you are packing quickly and are indecisive!? Or, fill your pillowcase with clothes and sleep on them on the plane and no one will know you left your contour insert at home!
PACK AT LEAST 1 OPTIONAL LOOK IN CASE YOUR NOT FEELING WHAT YOU PLANNED!
EVENT/ SPECIAL OCCASION LOOK
Most weekends away there is a planned event or fun activity you need “that perfect” look for.
This article is based on what I packed for a weekend away for my Grandparents’ 85th birthday celebration over Thanksgiving weekend.
I chose this skirt because it was easy to wear and I knew I wanted to consider how I would indulge in the delicious meal. All black and layering are great for concealing our warbly bits. We all know how being self-conscience about ourselves can ruin our time so I wanted to consider my look around eating and perhaps bloating so I would hide it a bit and still enjoy my time with my family. I also was a bit overdressed but I really wanted a reason to wear these heels and this skirt so I just chose to wear them anyway to value my desire to look good and feel good because it was my goal.
KEEP IN MIND: if we dress to impress we place a lot of stress on ourselves, and waste energy comparing and fretting.
Decide your style goals, TRUST YOURSELF and confidently stick to them!
BRING ONE JACKET & OR, BLAZER
The jackets are bulky! Especially when traveling.
I wear my layers for my travel looks to save space.
A moto jacket featured above is GREAT to bring because you can wear it over your evening gown or your matching sweatsuit. It is so versatile and stylish.
2ND OPTIONAL LOOK
Notice my 1st Optional Look had my Block heels that I wore for my event. I also could have chosen my Leopard Wedge Mules… packing 3 pairs of shoes really gives us many options!
This Look above I packed last minute in case I was not feeling my fabulous black jeans. I ended up wearing it so I was happy I added it.
TO SUM UP HOW TO PACK:
Choose clothing items that can work with one another so you have movement and plenty of options from your chosen clothing items.
