DR. MARTENS 1460 SMOOTH
ENJOY scrolling the looks I’ve created for you.
I trust that the outfit(s) you are drawn to, inspires you to have fun with what you own or perhaps, inspires you to buy a pair for yourself!
After this dress-up sesh, I’m totally buying a pair!! These looks were created with my friend’s boots. I asked her if I could borrow them for the afternoon to see if I wanted to buy them. Thanks Rebekah!!
HISTORY: This classic boot was created by Dr. Klaus Martens after being unsatisfied with his army boots while healing from a skiing accident. He wanted more comfort and took matters into his own hands to make the necessary improvements to create this timeless boot that is loved by so many!
PLAID BLAZER + CHAMBRAY BLOUSE + WHITE JEANS
When I create looks for you, I do so in advance with a plan in mind. It’s part of the fun for me when preparing style inspiration for you.
This look was actually created months ago with my nude heels. I just didn’t love it and I won’t feature a look unless I have that gut feeling that it’s on point. (part of my magic is trusting my creative radar). So, I kept this outfit together on the hanger and saved it for “it’s moment”. When my friend Rebekah lent me her boots, immediately I knew they completed this look! I hope you love it as much as I do. These boots ground the look for winter and fall. You could also style similar pieces from your closet and wear them like this all year round!!
A STYLE TIDBIT: You are not wrong if you call your Chambray Top a Jean Shirt- they mean the same thing. I share this so you are informed of its names for when you are online shopping.
ARITZIA WILFRED CYPRIE DRESS
This slit is a game-changer for a Sweaterdress. Scroll for layering options.
You can also style your dress with sneakers, sock boots, midi-boots, and your mules…. LET YOUR MOOD GUIDE YOU!
This dress also comes in grey, black, and tan.
ARITZIA CYPRIE DRESS + MOTO JACKET
Add your Moto Jacket for an edgy look!! This jacket is a must-have for your closet.
A STYLE TIDBIT: A Moto Jacket is also called a Biker Jacket pending on where you buy it!
ARITZIA CYPRIE DRESS + JEAN JACKET
STYLE TIP:
1. When you are wearing your jean jackets with your dresses that do not have a sewn waist, make sure the hem of your jacket falls at the small of your waist creating length to your legs and shape to your fabulous figure!!
2. If your dress has a waist sewn in or created with a belt— have the length of your jacket fall where you want to accentuate shape or else it will add bulk.
3. If you are choosing a long boyfriend cut jean jacket have the hem of your coat stop just past your hips where the round of your hips is flowing into your legs.
A FUN SLEEVE, MOCK NECK TEE + GREEN HIGH-RISE WIDE LEG PANTS
This sophisticated look can easily turn into a more casual style with your pair of sneakers.
I absolutely love these chosen items with these boots.
I’d suggest wearing this:
1. when going for drinks with the girls,
2. running errands,
3. or you’ve planned an early dinner date with your man before you head home to put the kids to bed.
CROP HOODIE SWEATSHIRT + KNIT SWEATER MIDI-SKIRT
If you are always gravitating to your jeans—try this look for a nice change. Not only is it super comfortable it’s fashion-forward. Feel fabulous stepping out of your fashion norm.
CROP HOODIE SWEATSHIRT + KNIT SWEATER MIDI-SKIRT + MOTO JACKET
I own a couple of Moto Jackets: one is an XS and the other a SMALL.
The XS is so I can achieve a more fitted look when I need one with my dresses, tanks, tees, or bodysuits. The larger size I utilize when I want to layer the bulkier pieces in my wardrobe.
OPEN-BACK SWEATER + FAUX LEATHER SHORTS
This is probably one of my favorite looks with these boots. I am a B cup so it does make it easier for me to wear an open back bra because it’s less work to keep my girls supported. I suggest looking for a low-back bra to add to your closet so you can feel like you are not fussing with your girls to be comfortable when wearing this look.
I can help in this department pending on your size of bust, and I am also unashamed to outsource finding you a solution to execute this look!!
VISUAL OF THE LOW-BACK SWEATER
I would encourage you to not rule out this look if you are attracted to it and think you can’t pull it off. I find some of my clients assume too quickly looks won’t work for them when there is actually a way to make it work. Typically we can tweak the look to suit your style needs!! That’s the magic of a Personal Stylist!!
THE MAGIC OF A LEATHER DRESS
A leather dress was something I was hesitant to add to my wardrobe. I had thoughts like:
1. Would I really wear it?
2. Will I get sick of it too quickly and then be unable to sell it for the price I purchased it for?
I decided to go ahead with this piece because it was real leather, on a ridiculous sale, and it was a timeless style.
The saleswomen actually mocked me when I brought it to the dressing room because it looked like an unflattering bag on everyone else she had seen it on. I kindly ignored her, knowing my shape could handle the cut of this dress, and tried it on. She was shocked it looked good. I was elated that it did and didn’t allow her response to sway my decision.
I was on the fence about whether to buy it or not. When I tried it on I was shopping with my male cousin, styling him for fun, helping him upgrade his look. While he was busy trying on clothes, I knew he wouldn’t mind if I quickly did the same. I put the dress back on the rack and went back to focus on him, To my surprise, he had talked to the women and added it to his pile, and bought the dress for me as a Thank-you gift. I was so grateful and thankful! I mean how thoughtful was he?!?!!! Not only is it a fabulous dress it is a treasured gift because of him.
Aside from that fun story about my dress if you are considering adding a leather dress to your wardrobe consider all aspects of your style needs.
Currently, this does not have to be an investment piece because there are SO many faux leather options available right now. But. if you do happen to run across an affordable real-deal… purchase with a timeless, classic look— not trendy. Purchase faux leather if you are going for the trends because they come and go too quickly to make it worth spending the money.
SKI SWEATER + SILK MIDI-SKIRT
This look defines winter chic… wouldn’t you agree!!?
This skirt can be styled in so many ways for any season:
1. SUMMER- style it with your blush/baby pink, lavender, or crisp white tops + sneakers, wedges & sandals.
2. FALL- style with your grey, black, or navy bodysuits, sweaters, short sleeve turtlenecks + jean/moto jacket.
3. WINTER- style with long sleeve tops, turtlenecks, short or long cardigans, your tights, OTK Boots, and your long winter jackets
4. SPRING- style with your floral wrap blouse bodysuits, chambray tops, sock boots, or mid-calf boots!!
LONG-SLEEVE CONTOUR BODYSUIT + HIGH-WAIST SWEATPANTS
These sweatpants are so comfortable and are made well so you don’t have an elongated ass with the high-waist. Even though there are no bum or side pockets, I’d suggest wearing them. They hold their shape and are easy to take care of.
This contour bodysuit is very comfortable as well and made out of recycled bottles making it super smooth with its material.
BUYING TIP: Pending on the color these go on sale often as they update their website and upgrade their available/ seasonal colors. The sales are epic around Black Friday and transitioning into summer.
LONG-SLEEVE CONTOUR BODYSUIT + LONG CARDIGAN + HIGH-WAIST SWEATPANTS
Tweek this look with your tank-top bodysuits, cropped T-shirts, turtlenecks, bulky sweaters, or wear your comfiest tee knotted on the side for some sass!
Layering is always so fun in Canadian winters and needed, lol. I loooove long cardigans…they can be seasonally hard to find so when you are shopping and find one— I’d suggest buying it because they sell out fast. It’s also common to spend $60-100 for this item. The cost is worth it in my opinion because of the many ways you can wear it!!
BUYING TIP: Upsize if you want a longer length!
I wear a small or XS in cardigans but when it comes to long cardigans, I upsize and order a MED. so it adds length.
